作家コメント

映画やアニメで定番の青春夏休み。小学生として生かされ続けるキャラクター。幾度も転生するアイドルグループとは何か。どうも高度経済成長の終焉とともに、日本人の中には同じ時に居座る感覚が生まれてきたらしい。そしてその世界観は、今では日本人のアイデンティティーとなっています。これを、誰かはストレスの逃避地として享受し、誰かは現実と対比させ社会問題として扱い、わたしは終わりの見えない無限ループ＝桃源郷として表現しています。

Youth summer vacation is a staple in movies and anime. A character is kept alive as an elementary school student. What is an idol group that reincarnates over and over again? Apparently, with the end of the high economic growth, a sense of staying in the same time was born in the Japanese people. And that worldview has now become the identity of the Japanese people. Some people enjoy this as an escape from stress, others contrast it with reality and treat it as a social problem, and I describe it as a Shangri-La, an endless loop with no end in sight.

作家は元々油画出身。それが水墨画の新ゴジラでブレーク。それ以来水墨画の世界にいる。
そして、ドンドン古い日本文化、神話の世界に入っていく。
日本発のキャラクターゴジラの眼を通して日本の伝統的な水墨画の様式で日本の文化、社会問題を見ている。
文字を使って絵を描くなどして既成の水墨画の世界に新しい息吹を与えている。
よく見ると絵の中にいろいろなキャラクター、思いが描き込まれている。それを見つけるのも面白い。楽しんでいるようでもある。

The artist looks at Japanese culture and social issues through the eyes of Godzilla, a character from Japan, in the style of traditional Japanese ink painting.
The artist has given a new life to the existing Japanese ink painting by drawing pictures with characters.
If you look closely, you will find various characters and thoughts drawn into the picture. It is interesting to find them. He seems to be enjoying himself.
