作家コメント

僕は　つくられたものが　いわゆる「芸術」である理由を知りません。
ですから　体裁上「作品」と呼ばれる僕の制作物たちが
自分がつくりたくてつくった　自分にとっては絵に分類されるもの
であるという以上の事はわかりません。
ただ　確かなのは
それを敢えて人前に出して展示してもらい
僅かにでも興味や関心を持ってくれる誰かをみつける行為が
僕の毎日途切れず続く虚ろな「つくりつづける」日々の
唯一の救済になる　ということです。

I don't know why my creations are so-called "art".
Therefore, I only know that my works, which are called "artworks" in appearance, are classified as paintings, even though I made them because I wanted to make them.
However, what is certain is that by daring to display them in front of people, I find someone who is even slightly interested in them. That's the only relief for my empty "keep making" days that continue uninterrupted.

彼の制作態度は一貫している。数カ月かけて絵の具を何層も重ね積層を作り、それを彫って作品に仕上げる。
初期は積層も薄くスクラッチ的で有ったが、最近は力強いストロークで彫り、削っていく。そのストロークの強さは年々増していると感じる。その力に見る方が元気をもらう。彼は、都度新しい画面構成に挑戦している。今回は直線を主体にした、すっきりした線、あたかも光がほとばしる様だ。切りくずを入れた螺鈿のような下層の模様が美しい。

His attitude toward his work is consistent. He spends months building up layers of paint, and then carves them into his works. In the early days, the layers were thin and scratchy, but in recent years, he carves and scrapes with powerful strokes. The colors of the layers are left to chance. I feel that the strength of his strokes is increasing year by year. The strength of his strokes energizes the viewer.　He challenges himself to create new screen compositions each time. In this work, the clean lines, mainly straight lines, seem as if light is emanating from them. The pattern of the lower layer, like mother-of-pearl inlays with chips, is beautiful.
