The series of paintings named ‘Between entertainment and war’ is a sort of prophetic painting because these paintings were mainly completed before the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the global tension that increasingly resembles the introduction to World War III. While on the one side the app, video games and artificial intelligence are shaping society and educating our children, on the other side it is becoming progressively intolerable, analog, physical reality. This condition affects the merge of two extremes into a single point that shapes our time with its sensationalism, which is entertainment and war. Precisely these problems this cycle of paintings is presenting.  When I was working on them, more intuitively than rationally, I felt the anxiety that imposed the motifs in the paintings. It all started with a painting ‘Apps Store’ and it all ends with a painting ‘Patriot2’. In the painting ‘Apps Store’, a young warrior boy finds his escape from reality in virtual reality, because this physical one has been eluding for a long time, and in the image of Patriot 2 that emerged in wartime we see collage segments of the attack on the World Trade Center, the shattered remains of a building after the Chornobyl nuclear disaster, as well as planes and propaganda of the war in Ukraine.

The Vanya exhibition is our second solo exhibition, following last year's. The previous exhibition was scheduled to be held in the Olympic year of 2020, but due to the Corona Disaster, the "Games of Thrones" exhibition was held a year later last year. This year, in celebration of 140 years of friendship between Japan and Serbia, we will hold the "Between Entertainment and War" exhibition. Both the previous and current exhibitions depict the dubious relationship between the threat of great powers and the threat of entertainment. This time "Between Entertainment and War" seems to foreshadow the current war in Ukraine. And the children also unknowingly represent the anxiety of today's world, which is creeping from this game (entertainment) to violence and war, which are coercive means by which man controls nature, man and society.
